User tips
A street banner does its work outside. Superior legibility, speed in use and simple
fastening techniques give your message an extra dimension. Great at attracting attention on a facade, stretched across a street or as fencing.
Faber Flags is happy to help you choose a product tailored to your needs.
Request criteria
What should you take into consideration? What we want to know from you.
-
Where the street banner will hang, i.e. outdoors, indoors and where.
-
If possible, we would like to know the dimensions. See the 'Designs' section in the submenu.
-
The type of printing, i.e full shades, raster colour or full colour.
-
The number of colours, based on printing on standard white fabric.
-
The number of banners you require, or a pricing row. We can supply goods from a quantity of 1 unit.
-
Fire safety. Should we request flame-retardant treatment? This depends on your feeling of responsibility or on fire safety regulations. Please specify this option in your request or order; once we have produced the goods, it is no longer possible.

Washing
Sewing — recommendations to take into consideration
-
If a street banner is shorter than 3 metres, no running lines need to be sewn in at the top and bottom. A sewn-on reef band on the reverse is more than sufficient in this case, and the loose tying line pulls the banner tight.
-
Banners tightened with wooden staffs on the left and right hang very tautly and look very effective.
-
A street banner that is longer than 500 cm will sag. This can be prevented through the use of riveted sailing eyelets that are attached every metre. A strong line or preferably steel wire can be threaded through these eyelets/'deadeyes' so there is sufficient strength and the line can be pulled tight.
-
Banners longer than 500 cm used in very windy conditions should be made from spun nautical flag fabric. At wind forces greater than 7, these banners become 'spinnakers', and should be lowered.
-
Completely finished banners are more economical than street banners off the roll. Finished banners can be continually hung up and washed countless times. However, banners 'off the roll' can be cut at variable lengths (for example 4 metres here, 10 metres there) and are ideal for events.
-
There are dozens of finishing options and designs. Go to 'Finishing/sewing' in the submenu or ask for advice from our sales department.
Miscellaneous
-
Have street banners for indoor use treated with a flame retardant —- see 'Technology'.
-
If a street banner is hung at a distance, a coarser raster is more effective than a fine raster (more than raster 10). This is due to the perception of the point widening.
-
Street banners can also be used to shield particular objects or activities from view or, for example, from television. See 'Fence wrap' in the submenu.
