Flame resistance

Our screen-printed products are NOT treated with a flame retardant. Standard flags are therefore not fire resistant. Digitally printed banners made from 'Jetbanner' fabric are fire resistant.

HOWEVER: If you specify in your request for a quotation or your order that your banners must be fire resistant, we will make sure they are treated with a flame retardant. This means that Faber satisfies the most stringent European and international standards, including the German B-1 norm. Read the section about the flame retardant treatment in the submenu and you will be safeguarded. We can also supply a certificate if this is required by the fire service. You must request this certificate with your order, as the issuing of a certificate is for specific orders only, and is therefore not done as standard. If you forget to order the flame retardant treatment from us in advance, or if some of your products need to be fire resistant, you must organise this yourself and this treatment falls outside the scope of our responsibility. Tip: If you intend to carry out the impregnation yourself, use an agent that is suitable for polyester or synthetic fabrics. Make sure you use the prescribed amount. If the spray can is intended for a 2 m² area, for example, you should not use the content of just 1 can to treat a 100 x 300 cm banner. In such a case, the treatment would not be adequate. Once again, these activities are not the responsibility of Faber Flags.

How large may a flag be?

In the Netherlands, the proportions for a horizontal flag are 1:1.5. There are actually no set proportions for a vertical flag. As far as length goes, as a rough guide you can deduct one metre from the length of the flagpole and divide the remainder by 2.

For example: A 7-metre flagpole (above ground level) needs a flag length of 7-1 = 6,
divided by 2 = 300 cm. This equates to a horizontal flag of 200 x 300 cm or a vertical flag of 120 x 300 cm or 150 x 300 cm. The choice of shape and size depends on the place where the flag will hang and the message it is to communicate.

How long should my orange pennant be?

That depends on the size of your flag. The pennant should be about 25 cm longer than the flag.

How long should my red-white-blue welcome pennant be?

We recommend it should be up to half the length of your flagpole or a little longer.

How long do I have to wait to receive my flags or poles?

That depends on the number of flags with their own print: 1 to 10 items can be delivered within two weeks (digital print); larger quantities require about four weeks from approval of the design (screen print). Standard items available from stock are delivered within one week; quicker delivery is possible upon request. You must factor in about two weeks for delivery and installation of your flagpole.

How quickly do flags wear?

Wear depends to a great extent on use. If the flag is hanging outside on a flagpole 24 hours a day, experience has shown that you will go through about three flags per flagpole every year.

You can increase the lifespan of the flag by lowering it every evening and raising it again in the morning. Regular washing at around 40 or 60 degrees also helps.

What is the minimum order quantity for flags?

The minimum order quantity at Faber Flags is one flag.

What types of fabric do you use?

Which flag cloth is best for you? Depending on your specific wishes, you can opt for either Supralon glossy polyester, which is a lightweight fabric that flutters quickly, the superior Polystretch glossy polyester developed especially for vertical flags, or the extremely sound Titan spun polyester, which is the modern successor to the historic woollen nautical flag fabric. However much they differ in appearance and 'grip', all the fabric types share great durability.
